The ultimate adventure on ice.
If you thought the Minitrekking was an adventure…
Wait until you experience Big Ice.
This is for those who want to go a little further. More time on the ice, more trekking, remote areas, and landscapes that look like they’re from another planet.
You don’t just come here to walk on the glacier.
You come to explore it. 😎
If you choose the option with transportation, we’ll pick you up at your lodging starting at 6:45 a.m.
Yes, it’s early.
But when you’re about to embark on an adventure of this caliber, it’s worth setting your alarm. ⏰
We’ll head to Los Glaciares National Park, and our first stop is at the famous walkways of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
A great time to admire the giant from the outside.
Because later…
we’re going to venture right inside it.
From the port, we sail for about 20 minutes along the Brazo Rico arm of Lake Argentino until we
reach the southern shore of the glacier.
And that’s where the real adventure begins.
Before setting foot on the ice, we have a roughly 4-hour hike ahead of us.
We’ll traverse the Patagonian Andean forest and the glacial moraine, passing through incredible landscapes until we reach a viewpoint with spectacular views of Perito Moreno.
And when the moment finally arrives…
🧊 Crampons on.
Now it’s time.
We begin a hike of approximately 3 hours across the glacier.
And this is where you’ll understand why this experience is different.
We’ll explore the most remote areas of Perito Moreno, discovering a landscape that changes with every step:
🔵 Deep
blue lagoons 🕳️ Deep crevasses
🧊 Ice
caves 💧 Ice pits
🏔️ Incredible glacial formations
All accompanied by specialized mountain guides who know the glacier well and help us explore this world of ice safely.
While Minitrekking is a great first experience on the glacier, Big Ice takes the adventure to the next level.
More time.
More trekking.
More ice.
And the chance to reach parts of the glacier that very few people get to see.
This isn’t a tour to rush through.
It’s an experience for those who want to spend the day fully immersed in the wildest part of Patagonia.
After hours of hiking through forests, mountains, and ice, we begin our return to El Calafate, arriving around 7:00 p.m.
You’ll probably be tired.
Your legs will probably be begging for a rest.
But also with a story that’s pretty hard to top.
This activity is subject to weather and safety conditions, as well as the physical requirements established by the tour operator.
More ice. More adventure. More Perito Moreno.
If you dream of truly exploring the glacier, this is the experience you’ve been looking for.
Are you up for going beyond the walkways? 🥾🧊
