Walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier and enjoy a unique experience amid crevasses, ancient ice, and unforgettable landscapes.
Some experiences are meant to be told.
Others you just have to live through.
Minitrekking is one of those.
Put on your crampons, step onto the ancient ice, and get ready to explore Perito Moreno from the inside.
The adventure begins with the transfer from El Calafate to Los Glaciares National Park.
We arrive at Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, where we switch to a water route.
🚤 We cross Lake Rico for about 20 minutes, with an incredible view of the south face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
And then… the fun really begins.
When we reach the other shore, the mountain guides are waiting for us.
First, we take a walk along the lake’s shore and the moraine, while learning a little more about how glaciers form and move.
And then the moment arrives:
crampons on.
🧊 First step on the ice.
For about an hour, we walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier.
And here, the landscape changes completely.
Crevasses, incredibly blue lagoons, ice formations, seracs, and little nooks that look like they’re from another planet.
It’s not just walking in front of the glacier.
It’s walking on it.
The activity is led by specialized guides in small groups, so you can enjoy the experience safely and with guidance.
We finish the trek and head back through the Patagonian Andean forest.
And after all that ice, it’s time to warm up with a hot drink. ☕️
But there’s still something missing.
The tour also includes a visit to the viewing platforms at the Perito Moreno Glacier.
That way, you can see it from every angle:
👉 From the water.
👉 From the viewing platforms.
👉 And, above all, from atop the ice.
If you want to experience Perito Moreno in a different way, this is one of those experiences you’ll probably be talking about for a long time to come.
Because it’s one thing to say:
“I saw Perito Moreno.”
But it’s quite another to be able to say:
“I walked on it.” 🧊
